With more than 25 years as creative director of his own graphic design agency in Melbourne, Australia, Peter Watts has been exposed to the arts for most of his life.
Peter and his wife Helen own a country property near Daylesford, Central Victoria. His art reflects nature’s impressive cloudscapes, which create dramatic backdrops to the rolling hills in an area renowned for its green, crisp environment. Paintings mostly focus on the striking colours in nature, depicting the subtle combinations of shades, movement and time shifts inherent in the Australian environment. With a distinct perspective on natural landscapes, Peter builds on his design skills to interpret and structure each painting’s composition, moving from reality to a subtle abstraction that brings his work to life.
Peter’s design work has been exhibited in New York, in the National Gallery of Victoria and in the National Gallery, Canberra. He has been a judge for numerous prestigious design competitions including Logo Lab USA, PICA in Tasmania and the Australian Graphic Design Association.
In addition, Peter’s work has been awarded and published in over 80 publications worldwide, including Graphis New York, CLIO awards New York, AGDA awards Australia, MADC awards, CREATE awards and Australian Catalogue Awards.
